My [Mercury OptiMax] 225-HP motors are mounted on the lowest hole [of my Boston Whaler OUTRAGE 28 or CONQUEST 28]. I think raising them may improve performance. [How high should they be raised?]

Trying to improve overall performance and fuel economy. I have a 2002 outrage 290 and have heard that these engines as well as those on a conquest were mounted too low by whaler.
