Gentlemen--I know this has been discussed many times before but I have never seen a application or discussion related to the installation of a auto pilot 60" Minkota bow mount trolling motor on a 1999 Outrage with bow rails. I wish to keep the bow rail intact and as you all know on this model the anchor locker and guide take up almost all the front bow space that would be needed to mount a unit.

I am open to all suggestion. Feel free to think outside the box on this one. I figured with all the expertise and the huge knowledge base that exist on this board someone could come up with something!

Build one out of [KING StarBoard] and mount it on the hull just above the rub rail.

When the trolling motor is pulled up will it come under the rail?

Milt, the rail section was fabricated at a shop in my local area here in S.E. Michigan. I started with the layout template long before handing the boat off to them to insure the end result. The mount is a combination of a piece of aluminum I fashioned (the boat side) and the other was a sliding mount I purchased locally from Bass Pro or Cabela's. The manufacturer of that part of the mount is located in North Dakota as I remember and is very helpful. If you need anything let me know as this was a fun project not one I could bang out. It took some time to ensure it articulated and cleared the rub rail and the underside of the bow rail when stowed. Also the Whale Board - the actual name of the backing medium molded into the port side of a Whaler - yet another discussion on this site, is very strong and is treated as you would aluminum so you can actually drill and tap this stuff. And it is tuff as nails when bolted too. Let me know if I can help in any way. Tony
