I thought I would share some pictures with everyone of the new Montauk I picked up the Friday before Memorial Day weekend, as well as our maiden voyage pictures. We launched at the Fort Adams State Park ramp in Newport, RI, and cruised throughout the lower Narragansett bay area. http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb225/Inabanus/MaidenVoyage.jpg http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb225/Inabanus/MontaukAftView.jpg http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb225/Inabanus/Montaukwithcover.jpg http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb225/Inabanus/NYYC.jpg http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb225/Inabanus/NewportWaterfront.jpg http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb225/Inabanus/MegayachtTurmoil.jpg http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb225/Inabanus/Adirondack.jpg http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb225/Inabanus/Houseontherocks.jpg http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb225/Inabanus/JamestownWaterfront. jpg http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb225/Inabanus/HammersmithFarmEstate. jpg http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb225/Inabanus/MontaukReflection.jpg

Nice Photo's. I have an 05 with the same motor and love it. Its amazing how much larger the head of your new motor is compared to the 05 year. Good luck |

For those of you that would rather open a single link than click on many to see the cool RI pix. Includes captions which is nice as well. |

GreatBay... Re:Boat Cover. Having just purchased my own Brandy-New 2007 Blue 170 Montauk this afternoon - (yay!) - posting the picture again doesn't answer O'ahu's question for me. It is an excellent and flattering fit - very attractive and looks like it would trailer well. What make, what price and where did you purchase etc. Great pics overall and a Beautiful boat - now I am wishing I went with Red. Ha. (It would have matched my bright Red F-150 4X4 that it will be hooked to). The reason I went blue - besides the fact that that is what the dealer had on hand, was because the Bimini top for the red one was black - I thought that would kind of defeat the purpose of trying to beat the Carolina heat..... Plus the Little Lady that will be writing the check every month for my birthday present said "I like the Blue better." Heck, if that's all it is going to take.... Blue it is! Just for you Honey.....and Happy Birthday to ME! Ha! |

RE: "posting the picture again doesn't answer O'ahu's question for me" It might not have answered it for you but those reading the caption from the link I provided would have discovered it was a Mills cover. Was the question not asking what kind of cover it was? For more info on Mills covers search this web site for Mills covers or go to the W.J. Mills web site at http://www.millscanvas.com/ |

GreatBay - minor mea culpa due here - Showing the wife your photos and I just noticed the "with mills cover" pop up when hovering mouse over the picture. Did not see that feature before or did not scroll mouse over photo to get ot to pop up I guess. If you don't mind sharing - where did you get this and what cost? I am trying to find it on the net (google search) but can not seem to locate that particular type/one. Nice form and fit - like a form fititng burka - grrroowwwlll. Ha. |

Thanks GreatBay - You must have been replying when I was posting the apology. Thanks for the link and will check into this... and learn some "post etiquette" to boot. Thanks again - look forward to more of your photos and information as I get into this. |

Okay - dumb question #2.... (why not now that I dove into this link head first)... does the site time out if left up?( I came back to the machine about an hour later)... I had not seen the GreatBay's reply and received a "not registered" page when I tried to post the mea culpa. However, when I went back and retyped eveything - there was the reply and my boneheaded (looking) follow-up asking for info that was now posted. Guess I need to learn some patience on thhese "instant" communications. Thanks again, have a great ride. |

Inababus: Was looking at your new Montauk and thought I would pass along a possible problem with the trailer. We also have a 2007 Montauk with the same trailer. Take a look at the underside of the step/fenders. The front and back of each fender is held in place by 4 sheet metal type screws with the ends missing. Upon backing my boat in the water, I noticed the left(port) fender sort of flapping around in the water. When I pulled the trailer off the ramp I could see that all 4 of the front screws had fallen out and the fender was held on by only two of the back screws. Used Duct Tape to secure it until I got home. We decided to through bolt with two bolts/lock washers/nuts on the front and back of each fender. Has held up so far. If the fender starts flapping around, make sure you hook the clearance light wire back up. Ron |

wywhaler - Good tip for all. I have not picked mine up yet but, having the same trailer will look into that as well. GreatBay - found the cover through your link - don't know why your post didn't show before I made a (further) knucklehead of myself on the board. Dang, stopped drinking beer altogether back in September and only had three beers to celebrate last night, and they made me goofy. I guess I was too overly excited about my first boat and the choice of it (still can't believe we made the decision to go all the way with a brand new boat -and a Whaler at that. OohRah!). I can't wait to pick it up but unfortunately must go to Virginia for the week so will have to wait until I get back next weekend. Thanks to you both for great advice an observations. |

BlueMax: No problems mate. Keep in mind the images are of the original poster, Inabanus' Montauk, and not my boat. I merely posted a link to one of his images with the photobucket caption. Inabanus provided direct links to his jgeg files which did not give you the photbucket captions. I personally find easier for everyone to post a singe link to a slideshow of multiple images or post a single link to the photobucket library of images, rather than to supply multiple links that requires the viewer to go back to this post to access each image. It's also easier on the poster to post a single link rather than multiple links. Work smarter not harder I always say. |
