Cheryl and I ventured offshore yesterday in search of Mahi and we weren't disappointed. The Mahi fishing off the North Carolina Coast this year has been nothing short of spectacular. They are thick and hungry for sure. We fished four hours had 22 strikes, 15 to the boat, and kept 3 (31.2/26.1/23 lbs).

We were using Shimano TLD 15's (spooled with 17lb Cajun Red) what fun. The weather was absolutely beautiful as you'll see in the videos. We fished around AR305 and 240 Rock which are located about 27 miles south of Morehead City, NC.

Video slideshow ....... runs about 3 minutes.

Tom:

You probably already know this but when you bring the first Dolphin to the boat, leave it in the water and the school will stay nearby. Cast another bait to the school, get hooked up and then pull the first fish out of the water. Sometimes you can catch the whole school that way.

Yep ... and they sure had many friends in tow yesterday. One really nice bull and two cows.

Tom,

Thanks for the show! Looks like you guys had a great time.
I hope to have the same luck in the B.W. Bimini trip in July. You had awesome weather that day too.

Tom, nice catch. What a day! Please send some of that bluewater and sargasso to us. I took my daugter and her friends fishing just a mile off the beach yesterday in the cool, green New Jersey waters. They were happy catching flounder, searobins and skates. No mahi...but hope springs eternal.
