Some folks have been asking for pictures of a 190. Here are just a few from a wonderful season of boating and fishing that isn't done yet. http://s239.photobucket.com/albums/ff104/sheikofthesea/?action=view¤t=IMG_0174.jpg

Sheik, that is one nice looking rig. It looks like my 83' montauk, all grown up. When I get to the point where I am ready to upgrade into something newer and bigger this boat is definitely on the short list.I would be curious as to whether you have experience with other newer and older whaler hulls, and if so compare how they ride to how your 190 rides. Just curious. I have always thought that my next one would probably be a member of the outrage branch of the family tree, but your 190 looks so spacious its ridiculous, and that could be great. |

Your 190 looks like a great boat. From the photos it looks like you may be one of the very few Irish sheiks, and therefor your 190 appears to be missing just one thing. Where is the Shamrock mon? |

Nice photos - I was supposed to get a ride in one of these but it never happened. Since we both fish Long Island Sound, I have some general questions. 1. Ride quality - what is the maximum wind speed/sea size you would consider fishing in this boat. ( I would like to see a 21 foot version but my gut is that it would cut into the outrage market and we will never see it). 2. Can you fish 4 anglers on rare ocassions? 3. Is the ride wet? 4. Does the boat drift well? 5. Could you squeeze a big cooler in the bow (I have a need to bring back a few bass and a pile of blues for up to 3 anglers). 6. How's the 115 with a fully loaded boat? (I picked up on the pricey upgrade to a larger engine) I keep watching the boat test video on the whaler website and I always say to myself "I like that boat".
Thanks - Jack

How could a boat with a bow the size of an aircraft carrier ride wet---I don't think so. It has all of the elements of a dry riding boat, bow flare and reverse chines. Why would anyone think this boat could bea wet ride? |

JackI can answer most of those question, however I fish the Texas Gulf Coast. I have about 50hrs on my boat. 1. The ride...my comparison is the 170 and the classic 17. Much heavier smoother ride. I've fish in 3-5 sea and as long as I don't bury my head in a knot tying I'm OK:) Boat does well. 2. Fish 4 people in a pinch, three is much roomier. 3. Very dry ride 4. Haven't drift fished much yet but my guess is it should be very stable. 5. Big cooler no problem. I have a 254 quart cooler and it will fit anywhere you want to put it. 6. 115 Mer. Fully loaded it does OK! A little slow out of the hole but...Fuel consumption..excellent!! I'm average 2-2.5 gph. I think I can easily go 25 hour+ on a tank of gas with reserves. The 135 was not an option for me. Jack |

sheikofthesea, I noticed the cutting board that you have installed in the rod holder of your 190 Montauk. Can you tell me where I can find one ? Thx. |

sheikofthesea, You have a beautiful boat, the smile on your face holding the striped bass tells the whole story. Tight lines, Jordi |

I just ride around in mine and in the roughest water it is dry. Handles rough water great in any direction. The only time I got wet afew times was if the winds were 20-30 mph and it was running in real rough water the spray would blow back. How big is that Striped Bass? |

Thanks for the compliments on the boat. The boat rides extremely dry and steady. The space to spread out is fantastic. Three fisherman is a breeze, four is fine as long as somebody is not a complete novice if you know what I mean.
The Striper is 38 lbs, the biggest one of the year. That bait table I got online from a great spot, which I can't remember right now but I will find it. I also got four stainless steel taco rod holdholders from the same place, that you can see attached to the siderails.
The boat has been a dream come true except for some fishing features that I will have to deal with. There are not enough rod holders and the four that are situated in back of the center console front seat block your vision especially when the straps to hold the bimini top are in place. So I am thinking of installing those super suction cup horizontal rodholders in the gunwhale. A little issue compared with the spectacular experiences that I have had this year with the boat. Sheik
