it seems the cushions do not dry very well. everytime i check on them by unzipping and pulling the foam out, they are wet (even after period of no use). i can't imagine i am expected to remove the foam after each use. for now i continue to pull them apart every now and again to dry them properly. today i wrapped the foam in kitchen trash bags before putting them back into the upholstery. any thoughts...

sorry, not a very exciting topic, but if i am like most whaler owners, i can never clean or maintain enough, it is a constant source of fun and financial pain.

Here's your solution, or at least one that works well for me. Get a couple of those "male" snaps identical to the ones your cushions snap into. Mount them on some sort of overhang outside. After a day on the water, you simply remove the cushion from the boat and "snap" it into the mounts on the overhang. Water drips out and the air dries your cushions - it takes about 24 hours in the summer when its hot outside, perhaps longer in the fall though. I never bothered to wrap my cushion with plastic, that way no residual water gets trapped inside to start the mold process. Three years now and no problems.

that is a great idea, thanks. by the way, the foam comes wrapped in plastic already, and then it inevidably gets a tear in it and water does get in, which in turn means drying is important. this is why i thought to wrap the foam in heavy duty plastic bags to try and keep water out as much as possible.
