I'm looking for a photo of one of the newer Pate tanks installed in a 170 Montauk. I have a 2005 and over the winter I would like to purchase a new ethanol proof tank. Any photos or links would be a great help

Thanks

Ditto for me. I also have a 2005 170 and plan on doing the same thing.

Here's a picture of my 24 gallon Pate on a 2004 170 Montauk.

Here's an installation demo.

Do you have a link to the Trim indicator?

My dealer installed the trim gauge.

Feejer,
The trim gauge is flagship series.

To get parts go to the Mercury Parts web site at http://www.mercurypartsexpress.com/PartsExpress ,
click on "Parts for Mercury Engines" link on the left hand panel then enter the following Parts numbers...

Flagship series trim gauge: 79-859693A 1
Power trim sender unit: 821400A 2

Here is the wiring diagram for finding the trim gauge wire that is already run from the motor to the center console.

I've read several posts on this site that says installation is a piece of cake. Here is one of them...

Hope this helps.

Also, despite the uselessness of the gauge alluded to by several other topics, mine has been in for several years with no problems. Its readings are very repeatable and it is great for less experienced operators (family) to at least set an approximately correct trim setting.

Obviously using the tach and your ears and eyes to fine tune the trim (usually just below the point of prop ventilation) is what you will be doing once on plane.

Just talked to Pate. Wow, $566.00 for the tank, $75.00 for the tie down kit (which is insane) and $65.00 to ship it to PA. And that is without any fuel fitting.

...and you have a single point of failure on bad gas or tank fittings. As I've posted before, I think the twin 12 gallon tanks is the best way to go for a number of reasons. Granted, the Pate tanks will last longer and looks stock, but man, the price is way out of my league.

My profile has a link to my photbucket images. There should be a few in there.
