Hi all, I am new to this site and just wont to say HI. I have a 1999 Conquest 21, love the boat! I fish lake Erie and lake Michigan. I don't see too many other Conquest 21's in my aria and would like to know who here has one and how they are doing. I have the 1999 200 opti max and a 2003 Yamaha t8 mounted to a bracket for trolling. I guess I'm just bored and looking for some conversation wile I watt for spring. Thanks.

I have exactly the same setup, except with a 9.9
Yamaha kicker. Love that boat, especially the hardtop. Have had some issues with the Optimax though. Although I live not too far from you, I keep the boat overseas. There are some pictures of the boat posted in one of the earlier threads. Tesija

Aloha!

I have the same model/year Whaler that you do. I love it! I'm rather obviously in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and, like you, have never seen another boat like ours. I do believe there's perhaps one other on a different island and maybe one or two further west in Guam, but that's it. There are several larger Conquests here that I've seen, but no others like ours.

Whaler made our size boat for too few years for there to be many hereabouts. That's too bad because in my opinion they're great boats, better than the Conquest 205 model that eventually filled that size niche after Whaler stopped making our boats.

I have a Honda on my Conquest and both the boat and motor have been nearly flawless. I use my boat mainly for deep sea big game trolling, deep bottom fishing, or mid-water night fishing. She's helped bring home tuna, billfish, mahimahi, ono (wahoo), every desirable bottomfish, and more. On the occasions we do take her on a picnic, the family just loves being on her. Great boat; no complaints; very little I'd change.

Hope spring comes quickly for you. Just one of the good things about Hawaii is that we get to fish and boat year-round ;).

What problems have you had with the motor? And how do we post pictures?
I too have looked at the 205 and I would not trade my 21 for one. There nice boats but the 21 just feels much bigger. I have fished it in some pretty ruff stuff on both Erie and Michigan and its held up verry well. I do feel that the boat pounds more than it should in smaller chop but I can get over that.

thanks for the conversation.

O ya.. I am thiking of getting an autopilet. I have read good things about the Simrad AP12h. Has anyone installed an autopilet on a conquest 21?

HawaiianWhaler, Wow, must be nice!! I would love to see some pics of a big tuna on the deck of you boat. I could photo shop them and tell some "real fishing storys" about my boat around here! ha. ha. that would be funny! thanks again.

I believe your 1999 Conquest 21 shares the same hull as my 210 Ventura, which is fat and heavy, and why it feels like you are in a bigger boat than 21 feet. Glad to hear of the Pacific seaworthiness, too!

There was a used Conquest 21 of the same vintage for sale in my marina two seasons ago, that was snapped up in a matter of weeks by someone two states away. They have a good reputation, apparently.

Tombro have you ever seen a 210 Ventura with a kicker motor?

No, I have not.

mattrix, as tombor sayed I think the hulls are the same. If you need a pick of the bracket I have let me know and I will email you some. I got the Yamaha T8 last year and before that I used a 15 Merc 4 stroke. I like the Yamaha much better for a number of reasons but both worked well.

Draggenballs:
If you run a search on this site under "tesija optimax" you'll pull up the earlier threads on the issues I've had with that motor-mostly having to do with alarms.
Pictures can be posted by adding a link to photobucket- for mine run a search on "tesija croatia"

I have the same exact setup, minus a kicker motor. I am very happy with the boat. Much prefer the layout to the newer Conquest 205. It's a "pocket cruiser" that can handle big water, yet is still easy to trailer.

HawaiianWhaler sent me some great pics! you need to get an account on photobucket or somthing and put all your fishing and boat pics there. I could look at pics like that all day, its cool when there on the same boat I have. Sure helps with the winter fix. Thanks again.
