Wind damage on port bow. Having glass shop fix it. Anyone know why there is flexible metal tube embedded in the gunwale behind the rub rail? Is this just for backing? Or something rigid to screw/rivet the rub rail into? There is no evidence that wire was running through it. I want to make surethough before it is closed back up in case I need to run a wire to the bow light.

light wiring goes under the black part of the runrail insert, not in a tube.
