How do you remove the steering wheel on the 2004 Montauk?

I've removed the plastic whaler cap, then nut and washer.
What's next to remove the wheel?

I tried looking at the exploded diagrams on www.whalerparts.com. Not sure if you have looked there already or if they will efven help you out but they are there for you to take a peek. The console assy was the one that I found to show the destoryer wheel parts and assy.

I think the next step is PULL. That was the case on my last boat with a teleflex steering system. Maybe a rubber mallet and some WD40 would help loosen things up...

Place your knees against the console while sitting down on the RPS. Bring your legs up against the wheel like you're trying to pry it up. Lightly whack the helm shaft (the thing you took the nut off of). Within 3-4 whacks, the wheel will pop right off.
