Does anyone know what model Clarion Stereo (AM/FM, CD, MP3 Input) BW is installing on outrages? Worth the money, or do you have a better rig to recommend? |

A CMD-5 is about the best you can find....but their speakers suck...get infinity's if you can |

I just put in a new Sony head unit that has an I POD adapter and an External input for my XM running on my Garmin unit. Nothing like clear audio and weather at 15 off. I used a JL Audio Amp and JL Audio Speakers with a sub-woofer. I wish you guys could hear it, it is incredibly clean sounding. Here are some pictures to the installation. I will try and post some pictures of the head unit which can be back lit blue or red at night, my gauges glow red so it matches nicely. |

Nice set-up! Is the CMD-5 the model BW installs as part of the $1000 option? |

Matthew, can you supply a picture of the head unit as it appears on the center console? What model Sony is it? Thanks -Seth |

To answer your question, my 2007 160 Dauntless came with the CMD4 as the "$1000 option". This included the head unit, 2 speakers, the remote control module and the iPod interface and plug. All was installed as a package and was well laid out. I'm sure you could do it cheaper yourself, but they did a great job on the install. Hope this helps. Mike |

I don't have any good up close pictures of the unit, here is one from a distance where you can see the red lighting and my underwater lights http://flickr.com/photos/jomatt/2411180555/sizes/o/in/ set-72157603719384955/ I will take some more detailed shots this weekend for you. The unit is a Sony CDX-H905iP |

Mattrix, great underwater lights. Which ones did you install? I'm looking at LED style for my Conquest 295. Any info on how tough the install was? As for the factory stereo B/W is now installing the Clarion CMD-5, I just upgraded from the orginal Clarion 2 in my Conquest and here is what I paid: Clarion CMD5 - $287.99 About 6 hours to install I stayed with Clarion because the remote extension cable is a pain to rewire in my Conquest, and the old factory installed one worked with the new head unit and remote. They delaminate after a few years in the sun. You can read reviews of marine seakers and some head units at http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Category.aspx?c=20&tp=419 Just shop elsewhere Crutchfield is a little pricey. |

after installing stereos for 10 years on my boats and many others there are a few brands that stand above the others... in head units - Clarion, aquatic, Poly planar, Sony (but this is new) best big dog system is full JL audio with a CMD5 clarion head unit. a great value system is it would be a Clarion M475 with Infinity speakers, optional: sirius box and Ipod interface if you want minimalism - and ipod will hook directly into a 2 ch amp and 2 speakers - email me for a specific 2 page MS word doc.... aand I expect being fri night, this will become a slug fest between music and those that think their time on the water should be be peaceful.....to each his own...but not mme....I need some Little Feat every now and then..... |
