Hi, Help! I have a 1991 15' Sport GLS. It's in great condition and is powered by a 70 HP Yamaha. Great boat, great performance, but in my never ending quest for less clutter and more space, I'd like to find a very low profile underseat gas tank for the boat. The clearance to the deck is 6.75". If possible, I'd like at least a 12 gal. tank, 15 gal. would be better. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Oh, any ideas about under seat storage for the front seat would also be appreciated. Papa

Moeller makes 3 underseat tanks for your boat, 12, 15 or 18 gallon. I put a 18 gallon in my 15 CC and am very pleased with it. Ironically at the time it was the least costly of the three. It sounds like you have less clearance than I had and may be limited to he 12 gallon tank. Try measuring the height again as that seems to be too low. |

Hi 'Lil Whaler', Thanks for the reply. I remeasured and it's actually 6.93" from the bottom of the fiberglass lip to the deck. The top of the seat is appx. 10.5" from the deck and is appx. 3/8" thick. On this model the fiberglass bench seat rolls over and the lip comes down about 3.5". I had looked at the Moeller 'low-profile' 12 gal. tank, which they say is 5.87" H, but then they say to allow 2.5" to that 5.87" height for the fittings. That would put me at a heigth of just under 8.5", which would mean that I would have to make cut-outs for the tank fittings so that it could slide out from under the seat for filling, etc. If that's the only solution then I guess that's what I'll have to do. Do you think making a cut-out appx. 3"x2" on the side of the bench seat would harm the integrity of the seat? Thanks, Papa |

On my 15 CC I just left the fill and fittings behind the seat. It is not in the way because of the seat back. Try fitting the tank in various ways before cutting the seat. I would not cut it if not necessary. One of my neighbors has a 15 GLS with an old Pate tank that is mounted with the fittings and fill just behind the seat. Good luck! |

Leaving part of the tank exposed on the back side of the seat is a good idea. I just checked the tank measurements and I could go to a 15 gal. instead of the 12 gal. Thanks for the idea and the help. They are great boats! Papa |
