The two holds and storage under the cushions in the bow area have drain plugs. I realized after using the boat all weekend that I didn't have the plugs installed. Why do [the bow lockers of a Boston Whaler 210 VENTURA] have drain plugs? Are they for ice? Just flexible use storage? Or do they have a specific intended use?

The lockers have drains to permit any water accumulated in them to be easily drained overboard. Water could accumulate in the lockers from a variety of causes.

Paddy ..........

Ensure the drain plugs are in when you are underway. Insert the plugs from the inside just like you do for the fish box. Because you are in a cold climate I would remove them after each use just in case you get some water inside the box (freezing temps). I use mine for dry storage because if you use them as cold storage and don't remove the plugs you'll get water splashing into the under helm and head areas from these forward storage areas. Those are false bulkheads between the forward storage compartments and the under helm/head areas. There is no pass thru drains that permit these areas to evacuate water to the bilge. Here are some pictures.

You can see in this picture that I added two nuts and bolts to the false bulkhead to secure it to the forward starboard seating lounge area. I got tired of the false bulkhead coming loose underway. Whaler did not do a good job securing the false bulkhead. 39944086/file.jpg 39944089/file.jpg 39944087/file.jpg 39944088/file.jpg
