This week or next I'll be ordering from Mills a cover for the console and RPS. I lke the dark blue but I'm wondering if I go with one of the lighter colors (Natural) if that would keep the console any cooler.

Things do get pretty hot under my dark blue mooring cover. In particular, the bow rail, console rail, and side rails seem to absorb a lot of heat; when I first remove the cover on a sunny day they're too hot to touch. After 5-10 minutes they cool down nicely. I don't think there's any question that a lighter color would cut down on the heat, though it would likely show dirt more easily.

Darker fabric colors will absorb the suns rays/heat, lighter colors will reflect it.

I have a "toast" colored Mooring cover and Suntop for my 1972 Katama. This color looks great, a little like the old canvas used. It stays cool , and so far has not shown any dirt, these are currently five years old, and still look brand new.

Let us know what color you decide to go with.

Without foreclosing further discussion here, I have to mention that there is a prior discussion on precisely this topic which produced quite a lot of information and in which many well-expressed opinions were offered:

One nice thing about the Pacific Blue shade of Sunbrella is that you will harmonize with other Boston Whaler boaters.
