Since my engine was changed from a Merc 115 to a Honda 150 and the steering was not upgraded the helm is quite stiff. I still have the cable system.
What do other Nantucket owners have for hydraulic steering?
I am looking at either the Baystar or Seastar units.

I would go with the SeaStar system over the Baystar in this case. Baystar is rated up to 150-hp engines and if it were me I would feel safer with the higher rated SeaStar.

My '05 Nantucket came from factory with the 150 Merc. and the Seastar hydraulic steering system, works fine.

Thanks guys that was just what I was looking for. I needed to be pushed into the more expensive Seastar system. I am still curious what Perry has on his Honda.

Mine came with the cable steering with the mercury 115 but I changed to the Baystar system and I am very pleased with it. No problems at all. I bought it from seabob who frequents this site and he gave me a great deal.

Opinions all. You want Seastar? We can do that.

My new 200 Dauntless/Verado 175 came with hydraulic steering and I am still getting used to the stiffness whether at rest or underway, compared to the push-pull cable steering on my Montuak/Honda 90.

Its a plus to be able to turn loose of the wheel on plane and have the boat track straight, but I miss the quick steering wheel rotation in docking situations.

Does this sound familiar to others with non power hydraulic steering or should I have my dealer look at mine?

I think my Nantucket had Teleflex No Feedback Steering. I take it that is different than the power hydraulic steering you guys are talking about right now?

Sal, if your Nantucket came with the Mercury 115 4 stroke, it came with Teleflex no-feedback cable steering. We are talking about upgrading to hydraulic steering with no power assist.

Did you upgrade to hydraulic steering after repowering with the F150?
