Did Boston Whaler change anything from 2007 to 2008 on their 190 MONTAUK? Are there any difference between the 2007 Mercury 115-HP EXLPT FOURSTROKE motor and the 2008 Mercury 115-HP EXLPT FOURSTROKE motor?

Generally the Boston Whaler literature describes any changes in the standard equipment or features of their boats from one model year to the next.

Mercury motors do not have model years, so there is no such thing as a "2007" Mercury or a "2008" Mercury. Mercury makes changes whenever they feel like it to their motors. Unfortunately they seldom change the model designator, so there is no way to tell if a motor contains new features or not. Often you need to track small changes to the decals or decorations on the cowling in order to tell what production epoch a newer Mercury motor is from. Lack of model year designators is a very awkward situation with Mercury outboard motors.

The same question was just asked in the topic about the sunlounge.

The only difference between 2007 and 2008 is that the 2008 is rated for 135hp. It is being debated in another topic (on the 200hp on a 190 outrage) as to whether you can upgrade your engine if a new model year is re rated but as far as I know, Whaler won't be handing out new capacity plates.

The 115 EXLPT FOURSTROKES built for the 2007 model year boats are the same as the 2008 engines built for 2008 model year boats.

When the engine changes Mercury updates the model code. A change in graphics doesn't indicate a model change

Yes, I am trying to help "bostoneddy" buy his first ever boat. I have been around boats for 50 plus years and Ed is just coming to realize the better side of life now that he has just retired. I have a 170 Montauk and really like the Whalers.
The reason we are asking these questions is that a few months ago, I saw someone asking the same type questions about the 170 Montauks and there were a few slight changes I saw like the high center console for the '08's or '09's. So any little things like that would be a great help.

Good luck with your purchase. Are you buying from Clew's?
