Have any 190 Montauk owners figured out anything creative to do with the opening under the aft steps on either side ofthe livewell? It stays very wet under there. I am not sure if the opening was designed for storage or just additional access to the bilge and transom area.

I just bought a 190 and thinking of a raw water
hookup, taping into the line that supplies the
livewell with a y connector routing water to a pump
installed under the seats you mention.
Any ideas would be welcome.

I keep a tool box with a water tight lid and some Tupperware containers with odds and ends. Condensation is definitely an issue.

There was a thread last year in which someone installed tackle boxes. Gave me the idea so I bought two boxes identical to the one on the starboard side of the console. They hold three 3600 series plastic tackle boxes and will open forward. Requires a little cutting but I haven't yet had the nerve or the time to do the project. There should still be room for permanent storage (spare prop?) behind the boxes.

I would be concerned about installing those brittle molded plastic boxes. That area is the back board for the self bailing drain. If you take a wave over the side and let water into the bilge you'll have to rely on a single small pump.

I use one side for all my cleaning supples and the other side for an extra anchor and anchor line. Everything gets a little slimy after a while but I usually go through the cleaning stuff on a regular basis.
