Since I got popped in the head I might as well ask the question: Does anyone have a good trick for keeping up the two hinged seats [on a Boston Whaler DAUNTLESS]? The ones I'm talking about are the two under the folding seat deck. I could have sworn they were on a piston.

On my Outrage one of the seats has a lid support spring. Works great, hasn't collapsed on my head... yet.

Go to Westmarine.com and search that item, they have a couple of different sizes. I'd post the link but it's very, very long.

Always have a look at whalerparts.

Often there is improvements between years and the drawings there details these, including mounting locations etc.

It also helps on post fitting options not originally with the boat.

Steve

a photo on the Boston whaler Web site under 180 Dauntless shows a strut on the starboard side which looks like something to keep the seat back from falling. Is this what you are wondering about?

I'm pretty sure my 200 Dauntless has one too but right now I can't get to it to confirm

yep, I just found some photos and there is a strut on each side to hold the seatback in place when up. this is on a 2007 200 Dauntless. There is nothing to hold up the seat bottom if you lift that up

Your correct, that strut holds up the seat backs (deck). I would like have something like that for the seat bottom
