My brand new 9.9HP Yamaha Kicker after 4 uses would not power tilt down fully yesterday. It went up and down a few times from a partial tilted position but eventually that stopped, although you could hear the pump running.
I suspect it’s just an air lock, fortunately it was on the trailer and we were just tilting it down to flush it.
I thought I would use the tilt manual release screw until the shop can check it out.
However the screw was so tight I was reluctant to use any more force as we had a screwdriver and an adjustable wrench to get extra leverage.
I don’t know if anyone else has experienced this but I would recommend you check your release screws on all your engines.
If this had of been an emergency situation on any engine(s), main or kicker all the contingency planning would have gone to waste for the sake of one small screw.
