Hi Folks - I am about to purchase a 1998 21' Conquest, which has no trailer. In wicked excited anticipation, I bought a new Venture 5225 aluminum, tandem, bunk trailer with keel rollers. Here are the pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/michaelt...1877/show/

I would like to adjust the bunks and rollers as much as I can, prior to picking up the boat. Is there anyone out there with 21' Conquest (or Outrage since it's the same hull) that would be willing to send me the spacing details of their bunk/roller config?

Thanks!

Mike

MidcoastMike - The link you provided did not work so I couldn't look at what trailer you have and the Venture website's photo of that trailer is kinda small so can't see detail. But, it looks very comparable to the Calkins tandem axle, keel rollers, one bunk per side, trailer I tow my Conquest 21 with. So how is my trailer set up?

First off, let me tell you that my garage, where my boat is stowed, is 'height-challenged' so the boat sits as low as possible on the trailer, with the trailer itself set to its lowest adjustable position with reference to the cross braces. OK, now let me try to describe in words how it's set up:

The keel of the boat, of course, sits on the keel rollers which in my case are triple roller units, one triple on each of the two trailer cross members.

You know the Conquest 21 has two strakes on each side of the centerline, right? Well, my bunks (one per side) sit between the two strakes, close to the inner/centerline side of the outer strake. My bunks are 10 feet long and are carpeted 2"x6".

Now here's the part you have to picture in your mind. With the trailer sitting basically level, the bow sits at a slight up angle as indicated by the bubble in a level. The aft end of the keel sits 15.25" off the level floor while the inner edge of the outer strake at the transom sits on the bunk 24" off the floor. The keel at the fwd end of the fwd triple roller (roughly in line with the fwd end of the bunks) is 13" off the floor, while the hull at the fwd end of the bunk (still at the centerline side of the outer strake) is 22.5" off the floor.

Hope you can picture that and that this helps. Congratulations on the new-to-you Conquest 21!

Aloha.
