If all goes right, I will be upgrading from my 150 Sport to a 205 Eastport this week. Wondering if anyone had any tips for when I sea trial? It is a 2005 with 135hp Optimax with 72 hours. Seems like it was meant to be, turns out the owner was looking to downsize to a 150 Sport, so we will trade, plus money. |

I just purchased a new 2008 205 Conquest and love the boat. I moved up from a 170 Montauk. As far as the sea trial goes, make sure you go over all mechanical and electrical functions. By this I mean, shifting, steering (if hydraulic, check helm station fluid), bilge pump and float switch operation, navigation lighting (including all-around light), dash switch operation, any electronics should be checked for proper working order, SmartCraft operation and read-out (if equipped), livewell pump and valve (if equipped), check fuel filter, time to plane, full throttle speed, fuel burn rates [at] cruise, troll and full throttle, check motor zincs and check trim tab operation (if equipped). Take your time and go over as much of the boat as time allows; you will always find something later that you did'nt see the first time around. Good luck and congrats on the new boat! I have a 2005 205 Eastport with a 150 Optimax and I couldn't be happier. The 135 might be a tad underpowered but will be a gas miser too. I have a friend with the same boat with a 200 Optimax and that boat flies. |

I got the boat. It is great. The 135 is fine. I can get up to 40mph or about 32kts using both speedometer on smart gauge and gps with four people on board. I really love this boat, very pleased, what a difference from a 150 Sport. |

Or "about 32kts" = about 34kts which equals about 40mph. Thanks for the numbers though guys, I am better prepared for my next outing on the boat. I will post pics soon. |

Ryland: Great looking ship, I really went crazy when I saw this boat at the Miami Boat Show a couple of years ago. My only complaint was that I found the cuddy cabin a little tight for two adults. Other then that I think it's a perfect size boat, really love the rear open space. Hope you enjoy it. Fred |

Thanks for the compliments. Went to the islands off the coast here yesterday. It's about a 20 mile crossing. This boat really handles well, cruises around 20-25 knots and sips the gas at about 3mpg. |

Very nice boat! I am looking to buy a 205 in the near future and am wondering how your Tacoma does towing her. Do you know how much the whole rig weighs and do you have any towing issues? |

My friend pull his 205 Eastport with his newer Tacoma. He only puts her in a few times a year as he slips it but he picks the best tides (about mid range on our ramp). While it tows it ok i wouldn't want to take it on an extended journey. I tow mine with an F150, a real nice combination. I imagine that boat motor fuel and gear you are probably looking at around 3300-3500 lbs not including the trailer. |

sfletcher.......Tows well with the Tacoma, I had airbags installed in the rear suspension to help out. The boat weighs 2800lbs, so I figure with fuel, gear and trailer I am up around 4000 lbs. The Tacoma has a tow capacity of 6500lbs. You can definitley feel the boat on the truck, but I think its fine. I have never needed it but I would be sure to have a rear locker or 4X4 to get you out of trouble if needed. |

Your 205 EASTPORT looks very sharp. I like the helm console. The twin Smartcraft gauges are very nice. The radio and chart plotter installation is well done. Your VHF Marine Band radio antenna looks like a commercial grade. I'd say that boat is very nicely rigged and set-up. |
