I recently purchased a used 2006 190 Outrage. The boat has a leaning post (not pedestal seats) but without the optional back rest. Because I have no experience, I do not know how useful the back rest would be? Do any of you have experience with and without the back rest? Is it something worth purchasing? Also, the Boston Whaler dealer I use says that I can't purchase the back rest from Boston Whaler. Is there some other manufacturer where I can purchase the back rest. |

I have the same back rest which was ordered from Birdsall Marine. It's a great addition to the 190 Outrage and I highly recommend it. |

I also purchased one from Birdsall after reading the above thread. Worth every penny in my view! Adds greatly to comfort, looks sharp, and is removable if you wish. |

Thanks for the suggestion. I went to the Birdsall Marine on-line catalog and I can't a backrest that looks like the one shown in the photos provided by Phil T. Am I missing it or does one have to custom order? |

Dauntless 180, Thats the guy who name I was trying to remember.... he posted here last year and I traded a few emails as I want to get a grab rail made up for the passenger side of the console of my Nantucket/ 190 Outrage. I want my passenger to be able to lean back against the leaning post and have a grab bar that can be held with both hands if required. With the factory set up the passenger can hold the console rail but only with the right hand and your off the leaning post to do it. I`m gonna reconnect with with Ray to see what he can come up with in stainless preferably to match the rest of the rails. If he makes one... I`m sure he`ll get orders for more.

Raymond does Super work and takes real pride in what he builds. He's built two custom seat cushions for me and I've seen many photo's of his other projects. I can't remember the last time I've seen welds so perfect. |

I recall that it was a custom order. Just a slight change fron one of their standard models. I will email Henry and ask him to reply to this thread. |

Phil Contacted me... Dean of Birdsall ...thats a good man to contact... I dont have the info in front of me but if you call them, and tell them what you want they know... You can add or subtract pole holders...and of course the price gets adjusted for more... But it is in the catologue, just look around... found it... http://www.birdsallmarine.com/marine-seats-back-rest-c-71.html The bottom two...I added two rod holders to take the place of the two used to insert the backrest...so it was more...I think you can add as many as you want...and you can choose the materiel and pleating you want to match your leaning post..............hope thats the ticket you were looking for.... Good luck... henry |
