Hi Folks. I am chasing pictures of the forward shelter for a 190 Outrage, as I would like to get one made over here [apparently in Australia if related to the top level domain of the email address]. I am planning a few overnight trips and it would be great to have some shelter during the night. Any pictures would be appreciated, the more detailed, the better! Cheers! |

Alfred, I have all three pieces on Das Boat and even have an extra forward dodger, center piece and bimini if your interested,m but me thinks the shipping would kill you. Look up Das BOat. I am sure I have pics posted on here somewhere. The two best things I put on Das Boat, Forward Shelter and forward Lounge cushion:)) |

Alfred--Apart from finding a suitable shelter the next problem is finding someone who will send it overseas from the US. Many won't and those that do only deal with couriers which is an arm and a leg to send. Most small electronics packages are over $100-USD to here. I tried to get a small T-top extender which was over $250-USD to send and a $180-USD to buy. You may be lucky and find a freight forwarder who will use air freight which is considerably cheaper. I have tended to stay with W M J Marine and West Marine as they have been hassle free in shipping. Best of luck and let me know how you get on Regards |

Cheers for the replies folks! Bob, your article was exactly what I was looking for. Good to get an idea how it all comes together. Henry will look for pics of your boat. The extra dodger that you have, is it complete or just the Sunbrella? the frame will cost the earth to ship, but the fabric is a possibility. Steve - I know what you are saying! Getting stuff sent overseas is ridiculous. Most of the stores charge an arm and a leg to ship. I often get the items I am chasing, sent to a friend, then get them to send it to me via the post office. |

The forward dodger is complte..but like i said...the shipping will kill you as its pretty large. For that kind of money , have one made there...IMHO Marlin first took mine and droped it on his boat to see it fit, then went and got one...but his article is excellent on install. Marlins articles on anything are usually excellent:) henry |

I'd certainly look to have it made locally, but it's hard to say which might work out to be a better deal. Before I discovered, as Yiddil mentioned, that the 190's shelter would fit on my 160, I contacted several local canvas shops about having one custom made. If I recall correctly, and it's been a couple of years now, I think I got one quote for $2500, one for $3500, and one "not interested". The shelter from Mills was about $1000. So while I agree it would cost a fortune to ship from New York to Australia, it could possibly still work out to be the best deal. It might not hurt to contact Mills and ask what shipping would cost. As an aside, a few years ago we sold my girls' old playhouse on eBay. It was large enough for kids to sit inside, and packed down to about 4x4x1.5 feet. The winning bidder was from the UK, I think she paid about $50 for it. Once she found out that shipping was going to be about $250, she got a lot less interested. -Bob |

Yiddil, I gather that you have a forward shelter available for a Nantucket. I would be very interested in hearing more details if Alfred decides not to purchase it. I have a 2005 Nantucket with a bimini, but would like to have more shade available. Do you happen to know if the sun lounge option is available as an aftermarket add on? |

Hi Jammer - will have to pass on Yiddil's kind offer, as he said, the shipping would be in "please have a seat before I tell you" country. LOL! |

The dodger is more like 1400.us now Me thinks...the forward lounge ..aftermarket...do not know, but I am sure you could get the plans from BW site and copy the base and support structure. Where you would have a problem is with getting a cushion made that fit exactly... Henry |

Have you thought about purchasing the canvas and hardware from Mills and have the tubing sourced and bent locally? It might be worth a try... John |
