[What is] the tongue weight of the Montauk 190? I'm buying a small pick-up with a max tongue weight of 350-lbs and a 3,500 lb towing capacity. Thanks, Fred

It depends upon the trailer. If the trailer is the standard galvanized steel Karavan sold underneath the 190 Montauk it is likely someone on the site has checked the weight. The aforementioned trailer is what I have with my 190 Montauk but I have not checked the weight as I know my Nissan Titan can handle it.

However I believe the tongue weight is fairly high because when I hook up to the trailer the weight lowers the hitch ball by about two inches. With my previous 160 Dauntless the hitch ball was not noticeably lower after hook up. FYI, the 190 Montauk on the standard Karavan trailer tows very nicely behind a Nissan Titan.

I doubt that a small pickup in the Ford Ranger class would be a great match for the 190 Montauk on a galvanized steel trailer.

Thanks for the info. I have the galv trailer. I stow my boat at a marina so my towing would consist of pulling it in and out of the water and then going about 50 feet to my parking space. The Frontier I'm looking at as mentioned is a 4 banger which is supposed to tow 3,500 lbs.

I hate to buy a V-6 just for this kind of towing maybe 1 to 3 times a month at most. I am also looking at the Tacoma which has a little bit more horsepower and torgue.

Will test drive both to see which one I'll buy.
