I have a 210 Ventura. Has anyone ever seen a conversion where a pilot house has been added to a whaler. I love my boat and want to keep it but I boat in a cold climate. Rather than sell her I would love to spend the money to add a pilothouse. Comments? Have a look at this boat for the concept I have in my mind.

Would a full canvas enclosure be an option for you? I have seen this option on other 210's but don't know if it would provide the same level protection and warmth as a pilot house. To directly answer your question, I have never seen a pilot house installed on a Ventura. I am interested to see this project, you would surely have a "one of a kind".

My first thoughts on tackling a project of this nature would be make a mock production setup fabricated from polystyrene sheets or blocks

This would resolve many of the initial problems and aesthetics before venturing into the next phase of actual fabrication, at very little cost outlay

I see your biggest problem being the existing height of the windsccreen

If the full canvas option won'd do it for you, you'd be far, far better off just selling the Ventura and getting the pilothouse boat you want. Starting with the Ventura, you have a choice between spending a huge amount of money (I'd guess somewhere well north of $10,000) to do the job properly, or having an ugly duckling that will never be right, and will prove to be unsellable.

I'm having a hard time thinking of a more difficult boat conversion than from an open-bow dual-console to a pilothouse.
