Hi guys! I'm new here and this is not my first language so don't marvel at my poor English. I just bought second-hand Boston Whaler 205 Conquest with 175-HP Verado. Now it is time to think how she should be "armed" for fishing. I'm planning to make a RADAR bar where I could place a short VHF antenna, RADAR antenna, and 8-10 rod holders. Has anyone added this kind of RADAR bar to your own boat?

I would also appreciate all photos of your Whaler 205 Eastport or Conquest!

Do any of you have exactly same boat and motor combination? How fast does your boat run? Has anybody weighed it with trailer?

Any experiences with a 205 Conquest would be nice! :)

Captain, I had that same 205 Conquest with the 175 Verado. I loved the boat. The motor was smooth and quiet, for sure, but it gave me a tiny bit of trouble (fault codes) that always got resolved.

To make a long story shorter, I loved the boat. I downsized for a few reasons, but the boat was not one of them.

Here are a few shots of my old Conquest: http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o295/TheMaryAlice/whalerpics/ IMG_0524.jpg

Oh, one more thing...

Regarding a radar arch, have a look at forum member, Buckda's, old boat, Gambler:

Thanks Sal!

Do you remember top speed of your Conquest? It's not important to me but I'm quit interested of it! :)

I found some 205 Conquest for sale which got the radar bar. I think it looks nice!

Sal would it be safe to say its around the 5000 pound range total load on trailer?

5000lbs sounds much better because I thought it would be near 5500lbs.

So does anyone else have experiences of this boat model? I haven't ride it yet so I'm quite impatient :)

Captain,

I also have a 2008 205 Conquest. The BW factory trailer was a 5000 LB Karavan with tandem axles and brakes. I will say I tow mine on a 4100 LB Karavan single axle with brakes, no problems so far. The farthest distance I have trailered is 5 hours, stopping every 2 hours to check hub temps.

I have a Mercury Verado 150 HP on mine and top out at 40 MPH. I do not have trim tabs and am very pleased with the ride. I plane in about 5-6 seconds (+/-) and can hold the boat on plane running high teens. I have been very pleased with my boat and have no regrets.

The Boston Whaler website has an archives section, under "owners", that can provide some additional information regarding performance and available options. Feel free to contact me with any questions regarding my boat. There are a few other board members that have or had this model (Sal A, among others, is an excellent source of information). Good luck with your purchase,

Robert

I just recently purchased an 205 Eastport and have plans to add a fishing/radar arch also. There is a company out of NJ called Atlantic Towers who sell kits to fit your boat for about $1300. They have a picture of a 205 Eastport with the tower installed on their site. What interests me the most about their product is the hinge mounting pads. This will allow me to tilt the tower back so my boat will fit in storage easily.

I also have the 205 Eastport, as I have stated in the Post Classic section of this site many times, I love it!! I have a 150 Optimax on mine and Mine may be a little bow heavy due to the storage compartment I have (made by a very good friend who also has a 205). My foward most cushion in my cabin has been replaced by this and it sure makes for good storage. I installed red and white led lights under the port and starboard gunnels that really light my deck up nice. it's a great hull and handles a bay chop really well. I hope to keep her for years to come.

You're right about winters in Finland. Big lakes start to freeze in the end of december (usually you can't go boating in christmas any more) and ice melts in april. We got plenty of time to build our boats (and less time for boating).

Thanks for the link! I'm not sure if it's possible to transport the arch from USA to Finland. I mean of course it's possible but how much it would cost. Maybe I should send e-mail and ask about it!

I would like to thank all of you who have been replied to this topic! In Finland there is not so many Whaler owners (I think mine 205 is the first in Finland) so there is no one to ask advice from. Of course Whaler is well known of its quality but the local dealer keeps prices 1.5 - 2 times higher than your prices are!

Long winter is now gone and season is on in Finland. I made a little album for you guys of my new boat and how she came to me! Boat has been purchased from USA and shipped to Finland.

Very nice. That arch looks great on the boat.

I can't wait to see a profile picture when you get the arch polished and installed. Nice job on the rails.
