I am actively shopping for a used 180 Dauntless and considering a nice 2005 model that is nearby. The boat is equipped with a bow railing, but also has the factory bow electrical connection for a trolling motor, as well as dual batteries under the console, in addition to the starting battery under the stern deck. It also has the optional fishing seats. The current owner is the second owner and he does not know anything about this arrangement. There is no evidence that a trolling motor has been on the boat. Why might the boat be set up this way? I have seen other posts regarding trolling motors with bow rails and it seems to be quite a challenge. |

I have the exact same setup on my Dauntless 14. I think the boat came with the fishing package which was NOT supposed to have a bow railing, then the dealer simply added the railing at the first buyer's request. I couldn't find any trolling motor that would fit under the railing so on the rare occasion that I need a bow mounted trolling motor I mount a block to the rail and clamp my motor to it. |
