I have an older 13 foot boat. The transon hangs over the end of the keel roller. The 25 hp motor has bounced up and down once going over train tracks and I don't want to do that again. Can a support be made by inserting something into the drain plug hole? It doesn't like a traditional transom saver will work. What is the best way besides removing the motor all together while travelling?
Thanks in advance,

Matt

And you are posting this in the Post-Classic Whalers section because...?

C,mon GBNH, the guy has sixteen posts and your breaking his balls about where to post. Show some class. As far as the motor bouncing, don't worry about it too much. The transom is far stronger than the motor. Put a block of wood between the bracket and the motor with two eye hooks and bungee around the middle section.

I noticed the 16 posts before I replied. Yep, 16 posts alright...since 2006! A 5 year lurker must know the wrath of JiumH is not too far behind. Consider mine a shot across the bow.

I have to admit that stupid questions deserve stupid answers. As far as a transom saver is concerned, it is pretty self evident. The fact that he is not asking in the right location is another story. To malign him for that is not in the spirit of this website, unless JimH deems it so. Not clear on JimH's post or it's meaning. Can you clarify the Kung Fu reference.

So far for my inquiry I've been told I'm a "ball buster", should show some "class" and have maligned a fellow CW poster. Projection?

"Can a support be made by inserting something into the drain plug hole?"

I don't recommend that design approach.

We need more information. What outboard engine? Does it have power tilt? Does it have a built-in trailer support bracket? What does the owner's manual of the outboard engine recommend regarding the tilt position for moving the motor?

A simple support can be made by putting a wood 2x4 between the engine leg and the engine mounting bracket and lowering the engine onto the 2x4.

As several have already noted, this article is not on-topic for the POST-CLASSIC discussion area. The POST-CLASSIC discussion focuses on topics which are particularly important for the Boston Whaler boats which were first designed or manufactured after c.1990. This topic should be continued, if necessary, in REPAIRS/MODS.
