Hello everyone. [Is] a 1999 or 2000 DAUNTLESS larger or better designed than a later model 15-foot dauntless? Also how do either of these models compare to a newer, 2004 to 2008, 150 Montauk?

I have a 2004 [unclear, mentions only "sport"] and I [may] get a slightly larger boat. How does the sport hull compare to the Dauntless hull? Is the Dauntless hull deeper-v?

The Montauk seems to be the same hull as the SS model: is this correct?

And, lastly, how are the latest body and hull designs in comparison to either the later Dauntless or Montauk and [unclear, metions only "sport"] designs? Thanks for any and all help with these questions.

In 1999, Whaler made three Dauntless models. In 2000, they made four. Which one are you referring to?

The Dauntless 15 was an early model not a later model, being made from 1994 to 1998.

Perhaps this material from the Reference Section will answer some of your numerous questions:

All I have to say is, "I love my Dauntless 15!" Feel free to ask specific questions about this model.

Boston Whaler typically now uses a three digit numerical prefix and a model name to identify their boats. For example, a 150 SUPER SPORT. The only boat that is called a SPORT is the 110 SPORT, a small tender.

Your requests for people to make comparisons among the many present models of Boston Whaler boats will be much clearer if you use the same designators that Boston Whaler uses. You can check on the Boston Whaler website to see the names they use.

Well thanks for the replies...................... What I am wondering is how does a 2000 Dauntless 14 compare to a 98 Dauntless 15? I read a post that described the 14 as possibly having more room and being different in design. Also I am wondering if an 06,07,08 Montauk 15 would be a better choice than either of these model Dauntlesses for a fishing platform. I currently own a 2004 super sport 13, and use it on the northcoast of california extensively for boating 9 miles up the coast fall / winter/ spring to surf in often heavy swell conditions . I also fish this wonderful little boat regularly in spring/summer usually within an 8 mile range of the coastal town I live in,and have even ran it off shore for albacore a handful of times when the water is VERY flat. This little boat has proven to be exceedingly valiant, and is probably the "biggest little boat" in it's class. Being able to self launch and retrieve is part of why I use such a small boat, and I am looking into getting a slightly larger boat with a center console.............Something I can still launch and retrieve solo but with a little more room/center console .......... any helpful advice or pointers or opinions out there? My understanding is that the Dauntless models have a slightly deeper v (and push through chop/swell better than the Montauks but perhaps do not have as much stability as a Montauk hull. Thanks again, lostcoastsalmon
