Re: Boat cover options
Note: the Carver website doesn’t sell directly, and prices listed there are MSRP. I have ordered a CARVER cover made with SUNBRELLA or OUTDURA from BOAT COVERS DIRECT for [again, please use the dollar sign to indicate figures that are in US-dollars, thus $911]. The lead time will be 40-days. I expec...

Boat Cover Options
For a cover [for a 1987 OUTRAGE 22] I give me opinions of the following vendors: ⋅ Wm. J. Mills & Co. Products ⋅ Carver ⋅ National boat covers ⋅ a local artisan There appear to be few [other] options available. Here are my own assessments of those four sou...

Re: 2006 130 Sport Upgrades
Best thing I did for our 130 with merc 40 four stroke, was a stainless 4 blade prop, I think it was 2 inches less pitch. Finally got on plane w 4 people, had to watch revs at the top end though.

Re: Problem with Water in Fuel Tank Cavity
If I am able to remove the foam with or without removing the cover, my plan would be to fasten a tube that I could hook up to a manual pump or shop vac as needed. Installing wiring and an electric pump and switch in the area seems more trouble than it is worth for many reasons.

Re: Problem with Water in Fuel Tank Cavity
Malcom, Interesting you mention the rigging tunnel dam idea. I actually came up with the idea and implemented my own version independently once I saw the poor design ( last year). Mine wasnt as good as the one shown though. Also, one of the major routes of water entry is the port side hole/tunnel un...

Re: Problem with Water in Fuel Tank Cavity
Not sure what [the foam surrounding the fuel tank in the deck cavity] was 32 years ago, but it is squishy wet sponge now, on this dry-stored south Florida boat. Think of the green stuff used in floral arrangements but coarser, yellow, and a bit stronger. I hope [Boston Whaler] used a different foam ...

Re: Three methods of draining fuel tank compartment
Q1: Does there existsome kind of flexible drill and auger that could hog out the foam around that blind corner, so that it could be vacuumed out and then the water could be vacuumed or siphoned out? Q2: Would you drill a hole from the compartment behind the fuel tank (e.g., live well in my boat) and...

Problem with Water in Fuel Tank Cavity
One of the major design flaws of the Boston Whaler boats is the fuel tank sits in a indentation in the deck, covered with a wood and glass cover, console on top, with no way to drain water. Water gets in, gas tank decays, expensive repairs ensue. There are several ways water can get in. My previousl...

Re: Mercury 40-HP Swivel Tube Repair
Good news - got it out. Here was the trick: I pounded it up from the bottom until the steering arm would clear the stops and spin 360 degrees. Then I put a block of wood under the side of the steering arm and pounded it upwards. The steering arm actually came up and off of the tube. Then I was able ...

Mercury 40-HP Swivel Tube Repair
I have reduced every 2 x 4 block I had on hand to splinters with my 5-lbs hand sledge, so I am here for help if anybody has been through this: The swivel tube on my Mercury 40-HP FOURSTROKE EFI corroded away, and finally failed catastrophically with a minor grounding at planing speed on a sandbar. I...
