Re: 1991 Johnson 70-HP Shift Rod
Why did you remove the shift rod? Is the O-ring seal failing? Generally that is not something you should do. With these motors, if you remove and replace, screw them all the way back in. You will need to put the gearcase back on and do a little bit of trial and error with adjusting the height to ins...

Re: Evinrude 225 Twins No Spark
If you have spark on one cylinder of both engines, you at least know the charge coils are working. Make sure you have a fully charged set of batteries--at 12.6-Volts--so the cranking speed is high enough. Evinrude 225 Oceanpro engines use an optical ignition system. The #1 destroyer of every OMC motor after 1985 (when first introduced) is a failed VRO pump that is clogged, or mistakes water/condensation in the gas as oil. It's really easy to do and all you have to do is pour in your TCW-3 a...

16-footer Engine Mounting Height
Hello All, This my first post here, and I'm a new whaler owner. Yes, one of those guys. I have a--guessing because there is no hull ID number--a 1968 16-foot 7-inch custom Boston Whaler. I have a 1993 Johnson 70-HP engine installed. I work on smaller OMC motors, 70-HP and below. On another forum, I ...
