Re: Fuel Problems
Thanks jimh. I may even just leave it as is and treat that under deck space as a 'trunk'!

Re: Big lesson today
I put the floor back in today without the gas tank. I need to use the boat for some salmon fishing while I wait for parts to come. Is there any [concern] to using the boat with that void under the floor? Also when I put a tank back in i'm not going to foam it in place. Instead i'm going to use sheet...

Re: Fuel Problems
Mine too looks like it happened like that. A few pits on outside but no major holes. There are signs of gas wearing away the aluminum paint on the bottom of the tank though.

Re: Fuel Problems
I removed the tank in about 6 hours today. http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o316/sterios/DSCN2701_zpsmsqwkxne.jpg The foam was soaked on the Port side and dry on the Starboard side. Tank is in ok condition with some pitting along the bottom and port side. http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o316/st...

Re: Fuel Problems
Both motors ran great on the portable gas tank. Took a few minutes of priming and cranking to get the crap gas out but once they fired they ran as usual. Today I"m going to remove the floor and clean all the goo off the top of the tank and look for corrosion. This boat has only been used in fre...

Does that color gas mean water? We had some heavy rain up here a few days ago.

Re: Fuel Problems
I siphoned out some gas just now. I added Ring Clean about two weeks ago and since added 70 litres of fresh gas today. This is what it looks like.

Is that normal? Or do I have a load of water in my tank??

Fuel Problems
I tried to head out for some Salmon fishing today. On my 1988 Revenge W-T the 1991 Mercury 200-HP engine fired right up as did the 15-HP four-stroke-cycle kicker. I shut off the kicker and eased out of the ramp and into the bay. The big motor sputtered and died. I wouldn't run again. The small motor...

Re: Trailer for Revenge
Thanks jimh. I read through that post on the tongue weight and I got a head ache. I was hoping to find a used on Kijiji as funds are tight now because of multiple fishing related upgrades to the boat. I will take a look at those [E-Z-LOADER] trailers and try to find a local version.

Trailer for Revenge 20
I'm contemplating replacing my roller trailer for my 20 foot Revenge 1988. I've read up on the requirements in the posts here and in the information section. I'd like to know what kind of trailer other Revenge owners have so I can start looking for a specific model and type on Kijiji. My trailer wor...

Re: Engine that gurgles from a former newbie
Great to hear. Now tell us what the Older Mechanic found to solve the problem. I have the same [problems] with a 2006 Mercury, and I can't solve it.

Re: Plastic Sheet over gas tank
The 'slit' cavity under the console has the lip and there is no evidence of any water stains under there. The circular deck access covers are all in great shape. This all started after pulling up the floor last season. I'm going to be pulling up the floor again soon to replace the fuel inlet and ven...

Re: Plastic Sheet over gas tank
Ya thought so. I've tried leaving the inspection ports off for days on end and the top of the tank still looks 'gooey'. Looks like lots of water is getting in from somewhere. Thanks

Plastic Sheet over gas tank
Ever since I pulled up the floor on my 88 Revenge 20 WT I notice the top of the gas tank is always wet and mouldy. I've resealed all the caulking twice now but water still seems to get in some how. If I were to pull up the floor again and seal a thick plastic sheet over top of the tank would there b...

Splash Well Drains
I've read several posts about how the splash well drains should be above the water line. On my 1988 Revenge 20 W-T with a 200 Mercury two stroke the drains have never been above the water line. I always have water in the splash well even when under way. I have a 15 hp four stroke kicker on the trans...

Re: Mechanical Steering Cable Repair
I had the same concern on my Revenge 20 WT. For $850 I got a hydraulic set up and never looked back. Very easy to install and bleed yourself. You can turn my 200-HP two stroke with one finger now.

Re: 21 REVENGE with Mercury 115-HP FOURSTROKE
You went to a 115 from a 200 on a 21-foot Revenge. How is it getting up on plane? I bet the fuel savings will be quite high.

Re: Keel Guard
Great Tips and pics. I'm going to get one soon as I have enough gift cards now to purchase it outright. Not sure if I'm going to mount it right up to the bow eye though. This Revenge 20 WT is use for salmon fishing on Lake Ontario only. There are quite a few secluded beaches along the Bluffs I'd lik...

Keel Guard
Has anyone mounted [a keel guard] on their [boat's] keel? I'd like to get one for next season so I can beach my Revenge without damaging the hull. They look straightforward to mount, but I would like some input from someone who has done this. Thanks and Happy New Year

What do you use to polish the gel coat prior to the oil application? I have a DA Porter Cable and use Finesse II but would like to try something else. Thanks

Great idea. Do you get an 'oil slick' following you around?
