Re: Four Questions about Wiring Diagram, Switches
Attached is the 2001 Dauntless 16 wiring diagram that came in Owner Supplement Manual for my 2001 Dauntless 16. [Moderator's note: the attached image was very low resolution and was unreadable. Because there was no value to be obtained from the image, it has been removed. Please see a follow-on post...

Re: State of New York Closes Boat Launches and Marinas
I have a slip in Mamaroneck, but the Harbor Master has not notified us if the ramp or slip will be open by May 1st. We usually will be notified by now. I have to wait and see. I don't see keeping the boat in the slip because of social distancing requirements. I think if the ramp was open social dist...

Re: 2001 160 Dauntless has no fuses or circuit breakers
Hello B.E. Coyote. Boston Whaler did not eliminate the individual fuses for the navigation lamp switch or the bilge pump switch on the 2001 Dauntless 16. My 2001 Dauntless 16 has has three switches at the helm. They are labeled as follows: NAV-ANC, BILGE, and ACC. The BILGE and NAV-ANC switch have 5...

Re: Dauntless 160 Data Yamaha F90 vs F115
Hello B.E. Coyote, I have a 2001 Dauntless16 with a 2017 Yamaha F115 mounted three-holes up. It is equipped with a Solas Titan HR 4 blade 13x15 propeller. My boat also has trim tabs although they are self-leveling tabs. Your data is similar to my boat's performance. I reach a maximum speed between 3...

Re: FL Keys Hotels, Marinas and Boat Ramps
I am partial to Marathon because it is quieter and in between Key West and Islamorada. There is a Holiday Inn with limited boat/trailer parking and a very good public boat ramp across the street with easy access to Vaca Cut. If you can stay a week I recommend renting a house in Key Colony beach. Ren...

Re: Dauntless 16 performance
Hello Eagle1499, I have a 2001 Dauntless 16 which I recently repowered from a Yamaha F100 to a Yamaha F115. With the F100 I had a Doel Fin, a 3 bladed black Yamaha stainless steel 17 pitch propeller, and it was mounted one hole away from the highest engine height. The boat planed well with this setu...

Re: 2001 Dauntless 16 repowered with Yamaha F115B
Bob, Thanks for your input. It was valuable in making my propeller decision. I'm not too concern with my top speed and really more impress with how the boat handles in a stiff chop with the 4 bladed prop. The boat rides over the waves and has less of a tendency to get airborne. Even when I catch a l...

Jim,
I agree with your assessment of good all-around performance. I feel that I have reached good operating norms for my boat, thanks in large part to this forum and those who contribute comments to it.
Thanks to all for their input.
Happy Boating!

Re: 2001 Dauntless 16 repowered with Yamaha F115B
Hi Phil--I also read the thread by GoldenDaze and thought I would get similar results. On my boat, the engine is mounted two-holes up. The boat also has bottom paint in good condition. With a three-blade Yamaha 13 x 17 the boat ran too bow high and was struggling to plane. That didn't happen with th...

2001 Dauntless 16 repowered with Yamaha F115B
Hello to all, I posted a few weeks ago in the GAM section that I repowered my Dauntless 16 with a new Yamaha F115B engine and a Solas Titan HR 4 13.25x15 propeller. The following is performance data that I recorded today regarding this boat and engine configuration. Speed readings were taken from GP...

Re: 2001 16 DAUNTLESS: Sell or Re-power
I just re-powered my 2001 Dauntless 16 with a Yamaha F115B four-stroke-power-cycle engine. After 16 years and 1,80-hours, my old Yamaha F100 could not hold compression in one cylinder and saltwater entered the engine. The oil was white and filled with sludge. The new engine cost $10,000 (installed),...

Re: 2001 16 DAUNTLESS: Sell or Re-power
I have a 2001 Dauntless with a Yamaha F100 engine with 1800 hours on it and can reach 37 mph at 6000 rpm with a 17 pitch prop. I believe your boat should have similar results as the Mercury 90 hp share some commonality with the Yamaha engine of the same era. I too have struggled with the idea of ups...

Re: 160 DAUNTLESS, Yamaha F115, Hard to Plane
Hello Tulley--I have a 2001 Dauntless 16 with the Yamaha F100. I use a Yamaha 13x17 black stainless steel propeller with the engine mounted one hole away from the highest engine setting. I also have a DOEL-FIN-brand foil mounted on the [anti-ventilation] plate. This set up has worked well for me. I ...
