Re: 130 SPORT with 40-HP
I had the same boat. It’s small and weight distribution helps a lot to get on plane. Put the kids in the bow to get on plane and that should help. We all had to lean forward but it worked. I went to a 4 blade prop and that helped hole shot as well. We were able to pull a tube and even ski behind it ...

Re: Advice on buying 2012 150 SUPER SPORT
I’d say that is a pretty good deal at $18,000. The tower is nice but will definitely get in the way for fishing. I have a 2015 150 Super Sport without a tower. It actually fishes well. Great bow casting platform and there is room in the stern to stand and fish. Be aware that 60 hp will limit watersk...

Re: 1998 Conquest 21 Known Defects
Do research on the outboard engine.
Some early Evinrude FICHT engines had problems. They were first produced in 1997 I believe.

Re: 2022 360 OUTRAGE New Model
Boston Whaler did a really nice job on the 2022 360 OUTRAGE boat. I love the use of lithium batteries instead of a generator. Also to see two or three engines instead of four engines is nice. I can’t imagine a boat speed of 60-MPH. In our New England waters there are very few days when that speed wo...

Re: 2022 150 Montauk Performance; Use as Tender Towed by Yacht
Is there room on a 54-footer for a Davit system so you don’t have to tow? As far as performance: I have a 2015 150 Super Sport with the Mercury 60-HP, and it’s fine to plane, even with four people, and truly self bailing. If you take out the cooler there’s more than enough room to walk around and fi...

Re: 325 CONQUEST Dinghy Lift
I’ve seen the Cutwater lift. Looks like a nice setup but they also have a huge swim platform. How often do you use the dinghy? I’d decide on use and then hard vs soft bottom. I’ve got a roll up in a bag that inflates quickly and stores in the cockpit when I need it. Hard bottom is going to be much m...

Re: 235 Conquest v. Eastern Sisu 22
General concerns with 20-25 year old boats are fuel tanks, through hulls, and motors. Condition will be very important as is maintenance. All of those items can be expensive to repair no matter the brand. I’m in the same waters as you in Gloucester. In my opinion there won’t be a huge difference in ...

Re: Boat for New Jersey Bays and Shore: 200 DAUNTLESS or 190 MONTAUK
My advice is either [a 200 DAUNTLESS or a 190 MONTAUK] would be fine for your use. If buying a boat used, have everything ready to go and jump on a nice deal in the fall. In my experience prices tend to be lower in the fall in the northeast and there still isn’t much inventory. Find a nice clean lat...

Re: Small Second Anchor
Guardian makes the G5 2.5 pound which is the next size down from your fortress. I use it as the primary anchor on my 130. It’s easy to disassemble as well for storage if it’s not your primary. I also use a 2.2 pound Lewmar claw as a stern anchor. We stern anchor on beaches up here. That works really...

Re: 130 Sport Engine Mounting Height
Thanks. Yes, the engine is mounted two-holes-up. I wonder if the newer model engine is different from the original. The shaft length [is specified to be the same] but may be different. Can another participant with a recent re-power comment [about the existence of a significant variable in the actual...

2006 130 SPORT with new Mecury 40-HP
[MODERATOR's NOTE: This topic moved to PERFORMANCE because it seeks to discuss the performance of a Boston Whaler boat.] I have a 2006 130 Sport that I re-powered at the beginning of the 2020 season with a Mercury 40-HP FOURSTROKE manufactured in 2020. The engine is mounted [sounds like two-holes up...

What are the sizes of the cockpit drain and transom drain plugs on a 2006 130 SPORT?
Backstory: In 2019 I bought a used 2006 130 Sport. I may have misplaced misplaced the drain plugs.

Thanks for the recommendation of the DRAGONFLY. I’ll take a look into the DRAGONFLY. I have a Raymarine device on the big boat, so I’m familiar with them.

Transducer and SONAR Options for 13-foot Skiff
I just bought a 2006 Boston Whaler 130 Sport. It is a second boat for me, the larger one is a 30' Grady walk around. The 13-foot boat's primary use will be cruising tidal rivers and inshore striper fishing. I need some ideas on where to mount a small SONAR as well as the SONAR transducer. A suggesti...
