I would use alcohol to wet the water and make it tend to evaporate faster. Acetone is more expensive than alcohol, and it might be harmful for the wood and foam in repeated applications.

As for what engine to recommend, if you want best reliability and best fuel economy, probably the SUZUKI DF115 is a good choice, and it will be less expensive than a 140-HP or 150-HP model. The presence of a brownish liquid with some odor associated that comes out of an empty fastener hole from the interior of a Unibond hull is most likely the result of some uncured laminating resin, probably polyester resin, mixing with water.

Unless there are obvious mechanical fasteners that retain the front cap of the console to the main console, the most reasonable method of attachment that does not involve mechanical fasteners would be the two laminated parts at attached with a very strong adhesive.
