My Montauk 170 has three drain tubes in the center console:
—two drains tubes are for two cup holders
—a third drain tube is for the bottom of the mounting socket on the top of the console for the white all-round navigation lamp pole.

Re: 2006170 MONTAUK: Aft Seats; Electrical Revamp; Swim Platform; Tow Bar
I avoid drilling holes in the boat unless no substitute is possible. Regarding the loudspeakers and amplifiers, consider bluetooth portable speakers, even guitar amps. "Unmolested Whalers" appear to have strong interest for future buyers as holes invite the potential for waterlogged foam c...

Re: 2002 Boston Whaler Montauk, Center Console Height + 6'2'' Captain
I have 2002 Montauk 170, among the first hulls built of the 170 model. I am 6 feet tall and don't think it is too low for me and don't regret not having the taller center console. (Not sure about the 2004 date, it could be 2008). Most features in boats include a tradeoff and you have to evaluate whi...

Re: 2005 Mercury 60 EFI lugging
All good suggestions here, but I experienced similar performance problems with nearly the same motor last summer, so I wanted to share my story. I have 2002 Mercury 4-stroke EFI Bigfoot motor. It would run smooth at idle and slow speeds but would not exceed 3,000 RPM underway and would sputter back ...
