The drawn pulpit is about 17 x 30 x 1.5 inches. I assume it is a laminated piece as finding a solid piece of teak in that dimension would be difficult and expensive and generate a lot of waste.

A very common problem with that steering system is overheating. Several users have been able to eliminate the problem by increasing the length of the fluid return hose. If lengthening the hose is of any interest a search of YouTube videos may be useful.

I would suspect an electrical problem was/is causing the fresh water pump to run constantly. If your boat is operated in waters with a lot of marine growth some may have been sucked into the pumps causing early failure.

Consider using a brass drift pin to drive out the tilt tube pin. It transmits force very well without damaging any harder metal parts it may come into contact with.

As fno wrote, a hydraulic press is a marvelous device when properly used.

It's hard to believe the hull is irreparable. Someone who does not understand the value of a used Boston Whaler may believe the hull is uneconomically repairable. As JimH said, a photo would help us understand that conclusion.

Our 1981 Sport 13 is powered by a 30 HP EFI Mercury with Tilt & Trim. At WOT, correctly trimmed for maximum speed it is a little scary. We are a boating couple so with three or more aboard it may be slightly slower.

File this under the possibly useful category. Our previously owned 1999 Dauntless 16 was rated for a maximum 115 HP engine. That boat was heavy for a 16 footer.

Sunbrella wrap around covers with heavy duty Velcro straps would be easy to install/remove. A storage bag for the covers could be taken along or, if you have a dock box at your slip, stored there. Assuming yours is a Sport model the forward thwart-console cover would be slightly more complex.

Contact SONAR transducer makers. There are SONAR transducers available for different dead rise hulls and different depth sounder makers. Be prepared to provide that information. The maker of your sounder may be a good starting point. A telephone call is often more effective than email.

What is too much power? There are thousands of boats successfully operating with more power than the boat is rated for. I believe he weight of the engines is a more critical factor than the horsepower. Horsepower is easily controlled by throttle position.

There is virtually no such thing as too much horsepower. There is a problem with an under powered boat. There are things an under powered boat can not do which a boat with enough power can do. An under powered boat is difficult to sell and the selling price would be much lower than expected.
