Re: Source for Off-the-shelf Cover to Fit 1981 OUTRAGE V-20 with T-Top
A custom cover comes with a big cost. When I bought the boat, it had a cover [the previous owner] bought from West Marine that fit well and cost around $350; that cover is no longer available. A new custom cover [would cost about $1,350].

Source for Off-the-shelf Cover to Fit 1981 OUTRAGE V-20 with T-Top
Give me recommendations for a vendor to provide an off-the-shelf boat cover to fit my 1981 OUTRAGE V-20 with bow railings, side railings, and non-OEM T-top in southern California at a reasonable price [perhaps means about $350].

Re: 2022 150 Montauk Performance; Use as Tender Towed by Yacht
We towed our 13-footer behind our 43-footer to Catalina Island all the time. The speed at cruise was 9-nautical-miles-per-hour. [We adjusted the tow line length to put the 13-footer riding] on the first [stern] wave. The 13-footer sat there nicely atop of the first wave. We used a V-bridle to both a...

Re: Determining Unibond Hull Water Content
There was water in the hulls of old 13-footers and 17-footers I owned. I put the hulls on their trailer in my driveway for a few months in the southern California winter. I drilled holes in the lower stern and let them drip dry(ish) each year. Otherwise they lived in the water for the rest of the ye...

Re: Automatically-operating Trim Tabs to Improve Ride into Head Seas
Jim, I have not, nor do I intend on buying these, as it appears based on some of the above comments that they are not as effective as advertised, even without first hand knowledge. That said, every boat I have owned, with the exception of my 43' Bluesea which was a full displacement hull, would ride...

Automatically-operating Trim Tabs to Improve Ride into Head Seas
Most Outrages models tend to slam into a head sea. Will the [$140] automatically-operating trim tab product advertised in the link below smooth the ride of OUTRAGE models into head seas [by automatically] sensing [the tendency of an OUTRAGE model to slam] and push down the [bow]? http://www.westmari...

Re: Five Questions For Readers Who Have Installed Faux Teak Decking
A friend just sent me this digital image of his recently re-done 13. He bought sheets and cut the sheets himself. [My friend] is happy with the outcome. fauxteakWithOrientationCorrected.jpg The cost of materials was $750. [My friend] is handy with [faux teak decking]. I would think [installing faux ...

Re: 1996 Outrage 19 Re-power
Q7: What does underpowered mean to you? Q8: What conditions do you fish and boat in? If you are in relatively calm waters most of the time, then wide-open-throlle is something you are probably considering as part of the equation. I have an OUTRAGE 20 with a Honda BF150. The OUTRAGE 20 is a slightly ...

Re: Steering Wheel Paracord Wrap
Jim, Functionally, I don't think it would make a bit of difference either way. I've thought about your comments and second guessed myself. In the big picture, I think I like it this way better as it does have a good feel with the knots on the outside, some may like it inside. If I ever decide to cha...

Re: Steering Wheel Paracord Wrap
Jim, I watched about 10 videos on it on Youtube, a simple Paracord boat steering wheel wrap search and you will find them all. This is how they all did it. Interesting question, as I took the boat out yesterday, and the only downside was that my phone charging cord got caught in it a couple of times.

Steering Wheel Paracord Wrap
I wrapped a wheel with Paracord 550 which I bought at Home Depot for $7 for 100-feet. I had 20 feet left over. Three take-aways ⋅ Take your time and take breaks, it gets very repetitive and you can loose your over-under rotation quickly. ⋅ Wear Gloves. If you don't, you are askin...

Re: Folding Foot Rest for Console
Butch--the steps I bought are actually mast steps for sailboats. The can also be seen older Bertram 31 boats or similar boats where there are no ladders to the bridge. They are solidly-made and have a screw adjustment on the underside for tension on the foot rest.

Folding Foot Rest for Console
After we used our new leaning post , I found that a folding foot rest attached to the console makes the ride more comfortable while underway. I bought a Stryker Lean leaning post--their warehouse is 5 minutes from my house. The leaning post has four feet with three screw holes each. This made me a little nervous. Re: Practical Use Aspect of Underwater Hull or Transom Lamps
Do underwater transom-mounted lamps serve a purpose other than cosmetic? [The underwater LED lamps when illuminated are] pretty. [At night the illumination from the underwater LED lamps on my boat] attracts baitfish. When hoop-netting for lobster I try to catch fresh bait to add to the hoop nets.
