13-footer E-TEC 30-HP
I am afraid that we may have just lost the 2 stroke 40 HP Yamaha on our 1988 13' Boston Whaler. I am leaning toward replacing it with a 30 HP Evinrude E-Tec in consideration for how these boats don't handle transom weight well. What type of performance reduction should I expect? My guess is the the ...

Re: First Gelcoat Experiment
@coachf...that looks like a pretty good out of the box match. Much better price point than the Spectrum stuff. I have reached out to them to see if they have anyone in US and/or what shipping looks like. I am not a color match expert but I have more faith in my ability to slightly tint something tha...

First Gelcoat Experiment
Replacing the motor on my 88 13' Whaler. The older Honda had a non-standard bolt pattern so I have to fill and re-drill for the 40 HP Yamaha 2 stroke replacement. I followed user recommendations for filling the existing holes. First I over drilled them then filled with mahogany plugs using gorilla g...

Re: Brass Drain Tube Repair
Thanks for the prompt reply. The tube cannot be installed from the inside out because of the recessed low point well so there is no way to preform the inner flare first. They essentially need to be formed simultaneously which is complicated by the angle of the outside flare. I may be missing somethi...

Re: Brass Drain Tube Repair
How is the lower drain tube on a c.1988 13-foot boat flared? I went through quite a bit of brass stock trying to install one. It is complicated by the angled cut on the outside of the transom and the recessed splash well on the inside. Both don't allow you to use a conventional threaded flaring tool...

Re: 13-footer with 40 HP
@Phil T thanks for the help. When you say 1 hole up on the engine mount wouldn't that mean that bracket would not bottom out on the top of the transom? The boat originally came with a smaller Honda 4 stroke and the bolt holes are totally different. I am filling the old holes with stacked teak plugs ...

13-footer with 40 HP
Q1: What propeller is the ideal propeller for a 1988 SPORT 13 with a 1988 Yamaha 40-HP two-stroke-power-cycle engine with three cylinders? I have tried the various prop calculators. I am prepared to do a full RPM test. I hope [some advice on a propeller contributed in reply to this post] might save ...
