Re: 1964 NAUSET 16 Yamaha F70A

Thank you Jim. I suspect we are nearing the point of diminishing returns. I was hoping Phil had hard data available. Assuming my tach is accurate, the 19" pitch seems optimum for boat speed. I haven't had four persons in the boat with the 19-pitch propeller. That may be its downfall. Anecdotall...

I tend to agree with Jim. Cover your real world loss in dollars. Going beyond that to a theoretical valuation based on asking prices may be good for the ego, not my pocket book.
I'll disregard my labor costs... as I would have the most expensive Nauset known to man.

Re: 1964 NAUSET Insurance Value for Total Loss

I have an agreed upon value policy of $20,000. If you don't count my labor, that value is probably close to reality. I have $16,000 in parts and hired labor at this point. SAFECO, the insurer, has been requesting additional justification as their “book" says $6,000 value. What has happened is m...

1964 NAUSET Insurance Value for Total Loss

My insurance company and I differ on the TOTAL LOSS VALUE of my 1964 NAUSET 16 with a 2023 Yamaha engine. This 1964 NAUSET has been completely refurbished, and everything is new. The cost for me to hire a surveyor to assess the boat would be more expensive than the insurance policy cost. [Inferred q...

I didn't know there was going to be a quiz, Jim. I was hoping a forum member with a similar engine and hull could chime in on what prop he had on his vessel. If [engine] weight doesn't matter I can go to 90 to 100-HP at 353 to 359-lbs.

Thank you for all the information. I'm sure it will come in handy.
I'm assuming the Petro Plastic gasket trim material will dictate the sizing and retention method of the plexiglass. We haven't discussed thickness, but again the trim should indicate that as well.
Much to think about.
