New to Modern Electronics
My newest boat has a Garmin 7408 electronic device. I don't know what to even call it; it does so much. I have had only basic depth finders on my other boats; this is a game changer. I have been reading about this NMEA network and I am not sure I know what it does. I believe my Suzuki engine support...

That is a great honor sir but I defer to you. We have been looking for another boat to keep down at Dauphin Island and we are restricted to a 19 foot maximum length due to towing vehicle and yard space. Checking what's out there is kind of a hobby of mine and I came across this one. It was in St. Ma...

Thanks to all. I paid no Florida tax and the admirable seller broke down the bill of sale (boat, electronics, trailer,t top, etc) so the actual 'boat' value is lessened when I pay Alabama tax.

Local availability is a big factor. There is only one Evinrude dealer in Mobile County and it is not his focus brand (that would be Yamaha). I buy my oil there and all showroom boats have a Yamaha on the back.

Outboard market share
I recently spent 5 days down on Dauphin Island, Al. I always like to observe the types of boats and outboard motors while down there. I made a non scientific survey of outboard motors. I would say that 90% of the boats had Yamaha outboards. Mercury came in second at about 4% and another 3% was divid...

White pelicans are some of my favorite water birds.
