Re: 2016 150 SUPER SPORT with Mercury 60-HP FourStroke Command Thrust
Thanks, Jim. The performance data is here: https://www.bostonwhaler.com/content/dam/boston-whaler/technical/resources/150-Super-Sport-Performance-2016.pdf I did just notice that the test date for the performance data for the 2016 model year boat is 2008, so something is obviously not right about tha...

Re: 2016 150 SUPER SPORT with Mercury 60-HP FourStroke Command Thrust
Thanks, Jim. The 36.3 MPH speed figure is based on Boston Whaler’s published performance data for the boat with the same engine, same propeller and roughly the same weight of persons and gear. Regarding your other questions: The only published data from Mercury I’ve been able to find is a maximum RP...

2016 150 SUPER SPORT with Mercury 60-HP FourStroke Command Thrust
Give me a recommendation for a propeller for a 2016 150 SUPER SPORT with a Mercury 60-HP FourStroke Command Thrust engine. The boat weighs 900-lbs. The engine weighs 260-lbs. The average load (persons, gear and fuel) is about 350-lbs. I'm looking for a reasonable balance between acceleration and max...

Re: Fuel Demand Valve
Thanks, Jim. That's a good question. I'm not entirely sure, either, but that is how the manufacturer describes it: " 2 stage self-venting cap that meets EPA and CARB Permeation Requirements". After a bit of online research, I think that means the cap is designed to vent automatically when ...

Fuel Demand Valve
Q1: is use of a fuel demand valve necessary with an EPA-compliant portable fuel tank? I’m planning to purchase a new portable EPA-compliant self-venting 12-gallon Moeller fuel tank for my Mercury 60-HP FourStroke EFI engine. The hoses recommended for the tank by West Marine do not include a fuel dem...

2016 150 Super Sport Thru Hull Diameter
Q1: what is the diameter of the stern and anchor locker through-hull fittings on a 2016 150 Super Sport?
I'm not near the boat so can't measure, and I am trying to buy replacement drain plugs.

Re: 150 SUPER SPORT Performance Far Below Published Speeds
Thanks to all for your helpful replies. The bottom is painted and the paint is in very good condition. The total weight of gear and persons is roughly equal to the total weight of gear and persons in the performance tests. I've tried trimming up more and that has [allowed the engine to accelerate] t...

150 SUPER SPORT Performance Far Below Published Speeds
Q1: what can be done to a 2016 150 SUPER SPORT with a Mercury 60-HP FOURSTROKE engine [with a propeller that is “dinged” in at least two places] to increase the engine speed so that the boat speed increases? BACKSTORY I recently purchased a 2016 150 Super Sport with a Mercury 60-HP FOURSTROKE COMMAN...

Re: 2016 150 SUPER SPORT Survey Indicates "high levels of moisture"
Thanks, Jim. That’s very helpful. Hard to know whether this is a false positive or an indication of a real problem. Unfortunately putting the boat in the water to check the waterline is probably not an option. The surveyor’s educated guess is that there is probably some water in the hull, but not a ...

2016 150 SUPER SPORT Survey Indicates "high levels of moisture"
Q1: how much worry should be given to a survey in which a "moisture meter" show "a high level of moisture" in certain areas of a 2016 150 SUPER SPORT hull? BACKSTORY I had a survey done on a 2016 150 SUPER SPORT. A "moisture meter" detected high levels of moisture in th...

Re: Mercury 40-HP FOURSTROKEl Engine Weight, Cylinders
Hi All, I appreciate you trying to help. To answer jimh's question, yes, Mercury currently makes a 3 cylinder and a 4 cylinder 40HP four stroke. One weighs 204 lbs and the other weighs 260 lbs, so it's a pretty meaningful difference on a small boat. I don't own the boat (I'm thinking of buying one),...

Re: Mercury 40-HP FOURSTROKEl Engine Weight, Cylinders
Thanks, Jim. I'm sure you are right, but first I need to know what kind of engine is on the boat (3 cylinder or 4 cylinder). The fact that Boston Whaler customer support doesn't know what kind of engines are on their boats is a bit mind boggling (and pretty disturbing).

Mercury 40-HP FOURSTROKEl Engine Weight, Cylinders
Q1: on a 130 SUPER SPORT current model, how many cylinders is the Mercury 40-HP engine? Q2: on a 130 SUPER SPORT current model, is the number of cylinder on the Mercury 40-HP engine the same number of cylinders as the 40-HP engine used on models prior to 2019? Q3: on a 130 SUPER SPORT current model,...
