Those horizontal rod holders from SEASUCKER like a good compromise between space and utility. Our previously owned Dauntless 16 had hinged rod holders in the gunwales for horizontal rod storage. When angling with two persons they were useful, otherwise they hindered fore-and-aft movement.

Find out who was the OEM vendor for the railing. I doubt that Boston Whaler actually fabricated the railing themselves. The OEM vendor might still have the template from 25-years ago and possibly could make a new railing—but I think that is a longshot.

It turns out that the fuel sending unit is under the live well. Good news is that the live well comes out easily, no screws, just lift it up and there is the access hole.

On my 2003 160 Dauntless there was an access port for the fuel level sender inside the helm seat. It was very easy to access, unless perhaps you have the optional livewell in the seat.
