Re: Highway Speed When Towing
We could start another topic to debate the safety of driving between 10 and 15 MPH below the speed limit vs the safety of exceeding the speed rating of our tires. I think it is symptomatic of the "me" generation's attitudes to drive well below the speed limit on the highway and then smile ...

Re: Highway Speed When Towing
Check your tire ratings. Most trailer tires (ST tires) have speed ratings below interstate highway speed limits. I generally avoid interstate highways but when I tow a trailer on them I try to drive no faster than 70-MPH. Although this may put extra stress on tires I believe it is safer overall to a...

On some late 90s era Boston Whalers the fuel tank vent is incorporated with the fuel fill fitting. That was the case with my 1999 Dauntless. Yes, the 160 Dauntless 16 anchor locker drain is well above the waterline. At low speed in snotty weather a little seawater can enter the drain but quickly runs out. From the picture of the lower unit it looks like a jet drive lower unit could be a good solution. I believe a jet drive lower unit can be retrofitted to the existing lower unit.
I wonder how well a jet drive impeller will withstand the wear from the sand and gravel in Tom's operating environment.
