Assuming two years, even if outside, have the owner fire up the engine in a barrel.

If the engine has been maintained, serviced seasonally, and had a recent carburetor cleaning and synchronization, it should be fine.

The rail is screwed into the fiberglass cap and backing material, either marine plywood or phenolic board.

Check all your railing screws.

Sorry - it is not Elite, rather Marine Ultra.

It appears the only difference between the Marine and the Ultra is the handles, hinges and closing mechanism. Given the price difference, it may be cheaper to order the Marine series and replace the hinges and latch with the Ultra replacement parts.

The classic Outrage models with the standard and super consoles included two rectangular switch plates on the flat face. The two shown in your photo are original to the boat.

Long gel coat cracks like those in the photo can be from a thick coating. You could grind each out a bit and reapply gelcoat or just leave as is.

First of all, what size are the motor shafts? 20 or 25 inch?

Can you take a photo from astern that shows the mounting holes in relation to the transom and bracket?

FWIW - Each hole raised will result in raising WOT RPM's by ~150-200.

After you wash the boat, using a standard garden hose and a basic cleaner like Simple Green, wipe your finger across the dry gelcoat in several places. Is there a chalky substance on your finger tip?

In my experience, the ones recommending impeller changes every 1-3 years are in the replacement business. If running in salt and don't flush the engine I say 3-4 years as a precaution.

I prefer OEM branded parts.

I recall years ago a member bought a whaler here in the states and had it shipped to the UK via container.

In his case, it was an inspection/paperwork exercise.

I have always found them In the hometown hardware or local/regional chains (TruValue, Ace etc) they are typically in one of a dozen small slide out drawers of specialty hardware (covers,hole plug, grommets etc.). The big box store (Lowes, HD etc) have them also. The key name is "hole plug".
