Suzuki does not make a 130hp engine. Perhaps you are thinking of the Suzuki DF140 engine. Good choice.

Nothing to worry about. The type of tank in use may leak some of the gasoline odor, but [something is] pretty darn bullet proof. I had the same type tank on my 1999 Dauntless 18 and my 190 Nantucket.

The 1999 Dauntless 18 had more interior room and storage space. The 2003 190 Nantucket rides better in following seas.

Made my annual trip to the Mobile Boat Show. A few observations: Big is in. Most of the manufacturers brought their big boats, 25 to 40-feet long or longer, and there were a lot of them. One had five 400-HP Mercury engines on the transom, and it was a center console. Boats are expensive. These boats...

Nantucket owners: your transom looks like this. The dark wood had the consistency of raw fish. The rest was okay. The engine was mounted where the rot was.

Make sure you check the wood around the thru hull fittings for rot. Boston Whaler uses plastic thru hulls that can deteriorate over time, and they may not have used enough sealant to protect the wood

I think you are on the right track. Raising the engine as high as you can get away with and finding a stern lifting prop (four blade perhaps) coupled with trim tabs should get you where you want to be.

My previous boat, a 1999 Dauntless 18, had a hydraulic jack plate. The boat was a bit stern heavy so it was a help while on plane because the boat rode better with the engine up high and trimmed down but then again it was a different hull. It also added 60 pounds to the stern.

Hydraulic steering is not power steering. It is normal to have some resistance in turning one way or another. The good thing about it is you can let go of the steering wheel and maintain your course (not recommended)
