Hello everyone my name is Paul, and I have a 1997 Boston Whaler OUTRAGE 17. I recently changed the [outboard engine] to a Suzuki DF140A from an Evinrude 150 Ocean Pro. The performance is excellent. I recommend it 100-percent.

I've been able to crawl around a 240 recently -- fits what I'm after. The sales guys indicated the foot difference between the 230 and the 240 is mainly in the bow. That area of the boat is important to what we do so I think we'll go with a 240.

Given enough time between swells (15+ seconds), it is not that bad.
Last Friday, I made it to Santa Cruz island in a little over an hour in my Dauntless 15. The speed was around 15 to 17-nautical-miles-per-hour. NOAA showed swells of up to six feet rolling through the gap between the islands.

I've owned both and the 16' Dauntless is significantly more capable handing the chop and rougher seas and the additional storage is a nice bonus. If you can, find one with a 115hp as I thought the 90hp was a bit underpowered.

My 170 Montauk on it's factory trailer with swing tongue is 20' 4" - If you shorten the bow stop or have custom made bow stop and move the bunks forward - I think you might be able to get the length where you need it. You might need to move the axle forward also to get the correct tongue weight...
