Re: Negotiation on New Outboard Engines
As far as the Washington use tax, this might be valid on large vessels, but there is no such thing on small vessels. You simply pay your registration each year, and you are good to go. I do see that use tax on "vessels" is to be calculated on a different basis, probably applied at the tim...

Although the initial topic in this thread was replacement of the steering, I also suggest that, as part of the inspection of the boat's essentials, the fuel hoses should be inspected. Hydraulic steering is a very nice upgrade for boats like a 1984 Boston Whaler OUTRAGE 18. Given the overall cost of renovation and re-powering of a Boston Whaler OUTRAGE 18, the added cost of using hydraulic steering instead of a mechanical cable system, when amortized over the service life of the s...

It should be possible to install new mechanical steering cables from the transom to the helm via the rigging tunnel, perhaps aided by using the old mechanical cables as pull-wires to drag the new ones through the tunnel. The newer MONTAUK boats are indeed fine boats, and the notion that the 150 model is somewhat on par with the classic MONTAUK 17 has been made before. We compare the relevant dimensions: CLASSIC MONTAUK 17 Length = 16-feet 7-inches Beam = 6-feet 2-inches Weight = 950-lbs Source: http://continuouswave...

With the announcement of operational status for the GALILEO GNSS about two months ago (December 15, 2016), there also came a rather strange announcement from the FCC: a wavier was being requested to permit non-federal receive-only equipment in the U.S.A. to operate with those signals. Are you using a center mount-actuator or a side mount actuator?
A center-mount actuator will need hoses with enough length to allow them to travel with the actuator. With a side-mount actuator the hoses don't move.
