The boat under discussion is stored in a boat lift which is very likely powered by AC power from the grid. A solar battery charger would seem an unnecessary expense when a standard AC powered battery maintainer could be used.

Advise your wife that it is not rare for Boston Whaler boat owners to own more than one. A little psychology can be used. I found a nice used Sport 13 that would fit in any garage and bought it for my wife. She loves "her" little Whaler.

If the hull is out of the water a leak can often be located by putting water inside the hull and finding where it comes out. If the boat is on a trailer it may be a good idea to block up the trailer frame to prevent stress to the springs. Dye can be added to the water to make a visual search easier....

From the photograph I believe your boat is sitting on a roller trailer. Roller trailers are not usually recommended for Boston Whaler hulls due to the possibility of dimpling of the hull. In the case of a fairly light CPD hull this may be unimportant but it could be worth your time to look into that.

I would consider a nice new VHF in the dash and connect it to a rail mounted three-foot whip attached to the hand rail as low as necessary on the console side mounted grab rail. I recommend raising the engine one more hole. I've enjoyed bet performance when the A/V plate is virtually at the water when cruising on plane.

Since it requires little effort and no cost to raise the engine why not give it a try?
