Recent SQL Error Messages

Postby Jefecinco » Tue Feb 25, 2025 10:38 am

For the past few days I get an SQL message when attempting to use the site. I second try always works. Any idea if it's me or the site?

The problem is only on the forum, as the rest of the website works fine. I have been out of town for several days, and I just got back. I will look into solving it.

UPDATE: I have found a temporary cure for the problem, but I will have to investigate further to really fix it.

Still working on this problem. It seems like it is caused by a malicious denial of service attack.

UPDATE: I am still working on this problem with help from my service provider.

At this moment, Sunday, March 9, about 11 a.m. EDT, I just implemented a significant change. The immediate effect seems to have been positive. But I will have to wait several hours to see if the forum access has really improved.

UPDATE: I have implemented some measures to block traffic from particular participants who where making an enormous number of requests for forum pages, literally multiple requests per second over hours and hours of attempts. On the worst recent 24-hour period, literally millions of forum page requests from these participants were blocked. The result has been that the forum is not being overloaded, and page permitted (i.e., unblocked) requests are back to their normal volume.
